Got the KLX300R exhaust system hooked up tonight. This one has a modified end cap much larger than stock. The rest of the insides are in tact from what I can see.

The 300 muffler has a different tone quality to it, but it unfortunately (for me) is just as loud as the Q4/megabomb/quiet insert combo I had before.... at least at 4500 rpm.

At least this one looks a little easier to modify. Going to see if I can thread something into the inside opening of the cap to reduce the diameter a little.

thanks, that is for a two stroke and is much smaller (looking at diameter at the fat part of the can) than the EXC four stroke exhausts. It would be even louder than anything I have now.

I have a nice EXC exhaust in my cart, this one has the spark arrester and all. Just deciding whether I want to fool with making adapters to try an make it fit.

If you need any pics or measurements of my exc (fe350) let me know. Not a problem. My 350 doesn't make half the noise that my Klx does. All i hear is the open air box. Very quiet muffler.

Could you measure the diameter of the FE/EXC muffler in the middle part of the "can"? Also, the length of the can? (from beginning of end cap down to the beginning of the other side with inlet pipe - ie, don't include end cap or inlet pipe)

Sure. Can or body only is 18 inches long from bottom of end cap to the weld of inlet pipe. Body is about 3 3/4 thick. Inlet nipple looks to be 2 inch. I can get better measurements if I can find my calipers.

Single top mount is 5 inches from end of body and 8 inch from end of end cap.

Comparing it to my q4 klx I see no reason it would not fit with a custom mid pipe.

If I measure from the mount down on my Klx the Fe muffler inlet will end up just behind the passengers foot peg. You will need a 5 to 6 inch piece of tubing with a slight bend that has been sized for both pipe sizes. The joint connection is slip over with springs like a 2 stroke.

Hope this helps

Yeah that is very helpful, thanks. Any chance you have a flexible tape measure, like is used in tailoring clothes? Curious to know the diameter of that can (aka body) so I can make some comparisons to a couple of exhausts I have here.. for science.

84 DB's ? that sounds pretty quiet to me , Best I get for my q4, quiet tip, fresh repack 95 DB's,newer PC 4 97 Db's.I think I'm going back to stock exhaust ,I drilled out the butt of the stock can 2" , and hammered and chiseled out the p shooter and chamber and will put a screen and tip on it and try that for a while , Will probably need to re jet , I took it out for a run and naturally it doesn't have the juice with the full exhaust , but loving the quiet ..
