Stock exhaust with FMF megabomb?
Dunno what I've said or done to ya my friend, I get nailed to the wall often with posts by klx678. I don't think you are doing it to be malicious but damn.
The 300 pipe (male) goes into the Megabomb (female). Enlarging the 300 pipe will make it impossible to slide in the Megabomb outlet.
The slots are there because the Q4 was incredibly hard to remove due to tolerances. Since the Q4 inlet is very long it reaches past the end of the slots and I have a solid seal. As fussy as I am about noise I would have noticed if there was any leakage there.
In any case this thread was posted about finding a quieter setup possibly using a Megabomb with a KLX300R OEM muffler. I've discovered that it will not work correctly due to the OEM muffler being too short. Anyone can mod their bikes to their heart's content. I now have a working stealth option (KLX300R OEM muffler and header). I'm happy.
Thanks.

As for the KLX300 pipe, kinda makes you wonder why no one makes something similar.
Totally useless to the conversation, but I could swear I found one for my GS500 back in the day, that was an "F1" brand. A quick google didn't show much so they probably no longer exist. I'm pretty sure it was chambered and did not have any packing. Now that I think about it.. that was around 1999-2000 so its ancient news.... damn I'm getting old... LOL
The markings looked like the attached photo I found on google...

I don't know about the F1 but my buddy had F1-R cobra pipes on his Ninja 250 back in the day and they were a regular straight through muffler, no chambers. The F1-R was the loudest exhaust I think I have ever heard with the exception of straight pipes. That little ninja used to give loud *** choppers a run for their money.
Haha... you are right... Cobra sounds correct..
It very well could have been straight through, I seem to remember it didn't use packing (a feature I was looking for at the time)... I know mine wasn't an 'R' and it was much more quiet than the one it replaced *grin

Another idea I had is to try and get a KTM 250 EXC four stroke exhaust to fit up. They appear to be a bit longer than the Q4 and larger in diameter. Still a straight through design but every KTM EXC I've heard is so much easier on the ears.
You would need a custom mid pipe but I bet it would be quiet.
