Excellent pics, I very much like the ingenuity.
Man, I so enjoy seeing a guy using the KLX the way it was (IMO) intended.

Next question - what tank bag and radiator shroud bags you running there?

Thought I'd come back and update this thread.
I ended up going with the PML rack. This was just a personal decision, but the fact that it allowed for a rotopax mount was very appealing to me. It's lines are very clean IMO and align well with the rest of the bike. Installation took about 30 minutes. Overall I'm pleased.

Updating again, hoping this info helps someone to make an educated decision for themselves somewhere down the road.

My 1 gallon rotopax arrived this week. I've heard mixed reviews on these gas containers, with some report leaking fuel. Time will tell if mine leaks I suppose. I will say that I'm thoroughly impressed with how stout the container is. Very stiff, zero squish.

I don't foresee myself riding with the extra fuel on board 100 percent of the time. But it's nice to know I can extend my range by another 65 miles when necessary.

Forest,
I have carried a 1 gal Rotopax for years on the PMR rack that you have and then several more years on my XR650L. I have NEVER had any issue with the Rotopax and yes, I have owned the same one over these years, Other than the safety release on the pour spout being a pain at first, I cannot say enough good things about the quality and usefulness of Rotopax.
Just for reference, I mounted the Rotopax 90 degrees from the way you did and orient the spout/cap to the non-exhaust side. I also glued two 3/16" slats of acrylic/plastic to support the Rotopax off of the mounting screws of the rack.

As far as the poster who was surprised not to see a link to the HotD, based solely on the title of this post, I expected to see - "Who doesn't?" Haha!
