First of a kind product for KLX
A REAL luggage rack for the KLX250S. It's from http://www.cycleracks.com/index.php
I wish I had known about this before I bought mine. It's probably a recent developement though. Now if they can just whip-up some saddle bag frames I might have to Ebay my current rack! I'm gonna send them an emailasking how easy it is to remove because it's not somethingmost people would want ride around with all of the time.

Thats astrong looking rack. I wonder how much weight it will safely hole without damage to the rack or bike. It won't make the bike a replacement for the utility of a quad but it's an improvment.

Yeah, I usually do 1 or 2 touring trips per year here in Japan. That rack is the first one I've seen for this bike that actually attaches to a pretty strudy part of the frame. Its width would also be helpful. The company really brags about the strength of their racks so I sent an email asking how much weight it would handle as well as how and where they attach it. Also threw in a suggestion that they fab-up some saddle bag frames that attach to the rack.
I'm sure there are more than a few people who will eventually switch from the KLR250 to this machine and want it to do some of themore utilitarian things that their old bike would do.

Why is it that functional things are almost always hideous? Looks like it woul work well- but I agree, I would'nt want that thing attached all of the time.

Here's an answer from Don, at cycleracks.com. He actually built the rack.
Dean, my rack does not need any welding, attaches with bolts, I did not plan the rack would strengthen the sub frame but it has seemed to help hold it together, lucky geometric strength with-out design,I've attached a picture of my rackin an accident. The rack was made to pack out elk quarters, it is stout. This winter I am going to develop a saddle bag set-up that will fit the needs of my customers. I will be hunting until Tuesday, but will call you if you leave your phone number when I return.

It will hold elk quaters, but will it hold the whole cow?
