1. Wash your bike
2. Go for 5 mile ride.
3. Go over it with a paper towel until you find the oil. Follow the oil to the leak.
4. Replace the valve gasket or reinstall properly.

hey just did this and found the valve gasket is leaking in a number of places can see the oil ruining down it. had a poke of the gaskets in thoes two dipping down bits were some of the oil is coming from and they moved a little bit so gonna take bike apart tomorrow and tighten the valve cover and see if that does the trick. will up date then. bike is only an 08 so hopfuly wont have to change gasket cause it ant that old and shouldnt have to.
thanks
mike

Don't forget to apply an even bead of silcone sealant. My gasket is 5 yo and reinstalled fine.

If you need silicone anywhere but the 2 "half moons" its not right. I would get a new gasket. I have taken mine apart many times and only used silicone right where the half moons meet the rest of the gasket. No leaky. Be careful tightening up the 3 valve cover bolts, its only going into aluminum. I always torque mine per the manual.

You're correct. The only place for silicone gasket sealer on our valve cover gaskets is the half moons. You can often get away with applying silicone sealant all over the rubber gasket, but you really run a risk of that piece of rubber squeezing out of there like a banana peel.

From reading here on the forum, weren't there some '09 or later models with an undersized or defective rubber valve cover gasket?

I might suggest some Permatex "the Right Stuff" sealer. THIN layer on the gasket; don't crap it up. Let it sit a couple hours before starting.
