Hey Danny, while I am no expert, (except in cleaning my bike) I will tell you that I had a small ticking noise around 1000 miles, and was told that as soon as the cam chain tensioner took up a notch it would get quiet again, and around 1500 miles all of the sudden it went back to normal. Don't confuse a tick with a rattle.

P.S I do take my bike off road, and have gotten it dirty a few times, but I'm just not a big fan of all out mud, we have mostly gravel logging roads with occasional mud puddles here, so don't let these guys give you a hard time for mostly road riding. They are just jealous that their bikes look 5 years old already hehehe

 

If ticking is only at low rpm's just pin it a row the box. Should take care of that.

Just joking man, Prolly cam chain or the decompressor in the exh camshaft. Somebody is starting a mod thread to remove it.
