Default a tad upset

So, my dream bikes are the new Aprilia Vtwin Endurocycle, the TE250, and a plated WR250.

But when it came time to get me a new bike, all the high end endurocycles were out of our price range, and the only small bore dual sport was the KLX, so I read and figured that since i'm young and am not looking for too much power, i'd be perfectly happy on the KLX.

And for the past month, I have been, but today I saw on craigslist, in my state an 03 WR450, already plated, all the street legal gear, for 4000 USD. That's 200 less than what we paid for my KLX.

I'm not going to spring for it since it'd definetly be too much trouble to get it, not to mention, the guy mislabeled the bike as a WRC450, didn't mention the mileage, left no phone number, and didn't even leave the city he lived in, but i'm just a little upset.

Some day, i'll have a stable job, and a little more hair on my chest (maybe even a beard), and i'll be able to plunk down 7000 USD on a 250F enduro bike

But for now, i'm having a blast on my KLX

Well said, I was at the MX races this weekend and there'sa world of difference between the KX250F, YZ250F, and CRF250R and our KLX250S. Between the compression and high performance exhaust, at an idle those bikes will blow your hat off if you walk behind one. They all have explosive power, I was sitting in the middle of a corner (not literally) and those guys would come out sideways with the front tire in the air and carry it down the straightaway. The KLX is great for what it's intended purpose is though, street legal trail bike. I take mine to work and hit the trails on the way home, and the power is manageable so I don't end up in the trees if I do screw up.

I too at the time could not afford a brand new WR so I went with the KLX, good working bike with pipe and basic mods done. But the following spring I got a deal on a used pre-plated 2006 WR450 with only 700km on it still uncorked from the dealer, saved 2 grand over a new one. Just ride your KLX and have fun with it, but keep your eyes open for another bike if you want to upgrade.
