My friend and i both have an 09, the other day he fell on a fire road going 20 mph and bent the shift lever. I took it off and bent it back to get home. On the way back he lost 5th and 6th gear. we took it to the dealer and they won't warranty it, it's going to cost him $350 and it's already been there 9 days waiting for a shift drum.

Why should they warranty it? He crashed the bike and broke something; I do not think it should be a warranty issue.

nope crashing anything isnt warrenty,, I laid mine down and bent mine but i just bent it back and its fine,,, 350 dollars really isnt a bad deal to fix a transmission I dont think

I hate that though

Cool

So far, the problems I've had on my 09 are wheels squeeking, false neutral and engine stumbles. That's all!

I didn't really expect them to warranty it or anything I was just giving the facts, I believe it's kind of sad that the shift drum would break going 15-20 mph on a fire road. These bikes are supposed to have the capacity to take a beating on the dirt. I have not had any problems with my 09klx, te450 or bmw.
