09 with more than a thousand miles with Q4 and no melted blinker. I did remove the smog equip the same time I added the Q4. The smog equip may contribute to elevated exhaust temps. I also tried the air box lid off, it was stupid loud. No snorkel is loud, the kdx snorkel flows well and is not loud. I made the hole in the lid bigger and run both snorkels.

So with the 351 is a new carb unnecessary? I would get one, but I was under the impression I would also need a new carb which is too much $ for me. If I can get away with modding the stock carb I might just pull the trigger on the 351. Then again wouldn't 351 screw me in the long run because the clutch will quickly wear out?

 

Get a 331 if you are worried about the clutch. You can do any big bore with the stock carb. For that matter stock pipe too.
