Default KDX220 for first bike?

Hi, I am 6' and 190lbs and I am looking for a first dirtbike, I found a kdx on Craigslist for a reasonable price and I was wondering if this could be a good bike for a beginner. I saw that it was two stroke and it kind of worried me becuase I will be riding on trails a lot, would this bike have to much power for a beginner or a trail bike? I also heard that the stock pistons were bad and they could really hurt your engine? Is this true?

The KDX is a great first bike. They are like a billy goat on the trails, have a great engine, and are very reliable. The good thing about 2 strokes (in general) is considerably less maintenance cost than a 4 stroke.

And yes, you need to be wary of the stock piston on the 220. Most likely the one you are looking at has had a top end done by now, but it is certainly worth asking the question. If you are unsure, or the owner can't tell you for sure, it is not too expensive to put a new piston in.
