Hey guys, i have a 300ex and whenever i take the airfilter off and put my hand on the airflow tube. To start it up i have to give it gas and hold the airflow off then on.. idk why any help please?? is it a carb issue??

 

choke is susposed to handle that. a little switch by the carb or handle bars it should hasve

 

I dont recall that proceedure from the FINE-C checklist, you definately have something off, does the choke help? does it run properly after it starts?

 

The choke works whenever i have it open, but i still have to do the hand procedure.

hmm, check the boot for a loose connection ie too much air. Does spraying ether around the boot affect the rpms? Maybe a good carb cleaning is in order? Something is goofy for sure. Do a visual and a prelim inspection. Good luck

 

i ended up takin the carb off, and cleaning the jets. it had a little gas restriction fixed that... gave it a good carb cleaning and put some fresh gas and now its running goooood.
alsoo some reason it will not idol.. any ideas on that 1...? it will idle on the choke the i have the same problem on my rm 250
