If you have everything positioned, the cams out, I placed a soft metal tube in the cam chain under the head while removing. Keeps it from falling into the case.

omfg there is no head gasket in there right now. i am worried that there is no bottem gasket either... should i take the lower end off. i have never done that. i know that you would have to replace the piston rings atealst. what else is needed. i just dont know what to do i already have it this far should i take it farther? i have no experiance at all with this i removed a head one other time. and ive never removed the lower.

Check again. The head gasket is really thin metal with sealant type material on both sides. To take the cylinders off, remoe the 3 bolts at the bottom of the cylinders and tap thecylinders up evenly with a soft mallet, then slide them up and off. Make sure all the bolts are out first.

ok you were right. the gasket doesnt seem to have any cracks or warpage at all. so i guess i better take the bottem off as well and check it out.

well i got the lower off. there was no 3rd bolt... anyways do i need to get new pioston rings? they dont seem to be bad but im no expert as you can tell. also the lower gasket seems to be in ok shape as well. and i looked in the cylinder walls and there are no cracks or bumps. even though the gaskets look fine do you think that is what was causing the coolant coming into the oil?
