I would strongly agree with the head gasket. Take the cylinders off too and check them for corrosion at the base gasket area. You can also look in the cylinders with the spark plugs off to see if there is any coolant in the cylinders/ on top of the pistons. If you try to starttheengine with the plugs removed, you will see coolant spray through the plug holes; then you know it's the head gasket.
+1 on what speed said. just don't keep cranking the bike over because you might cause more damage to the bike plus kill you battery at the same time. let us know how the repairs go to your bike.
you might be able to do it in the frame. that might be easier then having to life the motor back in the bike. but i'm sure someone esle would be better help on this then me since i've never changed a bikes head gasket.
so i started to work on the bike after a long wait. i was going to sell it but the deals kept falling threw. so ive got the valve cover off and the plugs out so far thats about it. besides the obvious to get to that point. does anyone have any pictures of taking the head off? ive got on but its for a differnt bike. i know that you have to loosen the cam chain and takes the cams off. and you also have to get it top dead center then mark the cams. but is there somthing that i am missing?
