Default More tire questions

I currently have the blue tomahawk tires on my bike. Thought they would look cool but they are garbage. I did not realize that black rubber is UV resistant, and colored rubber is not. I have had them on since January. The side walls and deep in the tread I now have BIG cracks in the rubber. I am slowly loosing air pressure, and now the front is cupping bad.

I was thinking of picking up a set of the pilot power 2s. My buddy can get them to me for $280 for a set (is this reasonable?)

I ride (commute) 50 mi. a day on the freeway, and I am not real aggressive when it comes to corners.

So to my question. Is there a better tire for my needs?

The Pilot Powers will wear out too fast and unless you like hitting the canyons or trackdays, you dn't need the PP's. Get a set of Shinko's or some Stock Bridgestone BT014's or BT015's. You can look around for deals on ebay for a set less than $200. Dunlop 218's are good for commuting also. Get Sport or even Sport Touringtires instead of trackday type tires. They will last you longer for the riding you do.

You may want to look at the continental brand like the road attack also. I have not tried them though.

Pirelli's & Metzlers are good tires also. Just depend on where and how you ride.
