Default more and more supermotos I see

I usually ride my Triumph every Sunday up the North Georgia mountains for the day, well ... thsi past weekend - the g-friend (who rides as well) suggested "we" take the FFR Cobra to the mountains. Cool ... why not.

The place everyone in the Atlanta area aims for is called T.W.O.s (two wheels only) located in Suches, Ga. VERY cool place located in the middle of some of the best curvy roads you'll find in America. Hundreds of bikers pass through every weekend. I usually see a few Dual Sport bikes here and there. As for Kawas - the typical KLR650s are the norm. Never seen a KLX250 as of yet.

A week ago, I see someone riding a supermoto set up for the first time. While we were taking a break at a local gathering spot, dude pulls up on a Husky SMR510. WOW! Bunch of people gathered around it and after he went ripping off, it was the buzz for a bit. So ... this weekend, while in the Cobra and being held up behind slow traffic, I see a supermoto buzz by and pointed it out to the GF with the remark, 'I'd like to set the KLX up like that and rotate wheels for primary dirt or primary street ... yada yada yada'. Except ... she didn't see it. "ok, here comes another one ..." - "OH .. I see what you're talking about now." This now makes the both of us start either looking for more or noticing more of them on the road. Think I counted more than 20 of them - heck even saw a KTM set up as one. He slowed as he came up to the Cobra - looked it up and down and gave a thumbs up and here I was drooling over his bike. It didn't look big enough to be the 950 ...

I'm getting the supermoto itch pretty bad.

You really don't want a 950 as a supermoto!

KTM once had the "SMC" model, which came with two sets of wheels and tires. Ride it as a dualsport, or as a supermoto.

The "King of the Gap" - as in Deal's Gap - rides a KTM Super Duke - 640 cc single cylinder bike with sticky sportbike tires and lots of suspension work. I've seen him tear up the squids on xxxx 1000 cc bikes through the area. He's quite quick as the bike is light, flickable and powered just right for the road he's running on.

How about something like this:

My brother just sat on one of these this weekend...SVX 5.5

A buddy of my brother just bought it to race against SV650's. My brother said he has never heard a bike sound like this one. Said it sounded like an italian sports car, like a ferrari or lamborghini. The throttle response was unbelievable. Neat bike. Also comes in this flavor... Me likey alot.

Yeah, that Aprilia is sweet. Just don't want to have to do "freshens" every 45 hours of operation!

For a mid-size bike, 400cc, Suzuki puts a nice package out.

Another, much less known, producer of factory Supermotos is MuZ!

That Husky 510 I saw sounded wicked and when the guy ripped on it - I must say I was impressed with it's impression of a cat being shot with a BB-gun.

I'm stewing over just buying an extra set of wheels/hubs/tires from East Coast Wheels and be done with it.

I just saw an ad in "Robb Report Motorcycling" magazine (never heard of it either).
The ad is for a 950 KTM motard... It looks pretty bulky to me. 98HP.
