I took the msf course for $150. I can't believe it's up to $250 in cali. [
] The course was really aimed towards new riders; I didn't feel that I benefited much from it myself, but everyone is different. Don't get me wrong though, they do teach you a lot of stuff, it's just that if you've been riding for a while, you won't gain too much from it.

Glad you two are ok. Just for the record tho not all cops are like that...some of us ride bikes and I give benefit of the doubt to the bike cause I know that the people in cages aren't looking out for bikes from experience! People just do not pay attention to bikes.

I was out in Carmel (near monteray i think?) for a wedding early in July. Absolutely beautiful area.
I know they have an experienced rider course as well. Its only $75 and 1 day (instead of 3). And it seems that cali has this as well. markmeinteil is probably right that you won't gain too much from a basics course if you've been riding for a while.

For me...the basics schedule was: day 1 - 4 hours of classroom instruction. day 2 - 5 hours riding and 3 hours instruction with written exam. day 3 - 5 hours riding with riding exam
I think i'm going to take the experienced course next spring. It's only a day and you get to use your own bike and i figured anything that can help keep me riding safely would be wise.
I've uber-cautious when I ride, I always assume the car pulling up is just going to pull out, but I haven't had it happen yet (of course i've only beein riding for 2 weeks so far)

devil girl are you a cop? Thats hella cool, I have always wanted to be a cop. There are hella cool cops out there and I bet my butt that if it was a bike cop he or she would had give that POS a ticket for the crap he pulled!!

my class was $275 The basis for the class is to teach "defensive" riding skills. one of the nice things about the skill test is, they are more leaniant (spelling?). If you screw up w/ the DMV skills test, you just fail Everyone in my class had a great time. I think its worth taking
