Newbie 2009 KLX250S
Hello All, name is Greg.
a little background about me, married, 2 daugters, 21 and 23....
I bought the bike used, I am the second owner, it has 11,000kms on it.
I found this forum and started reading and researching, and I am very happy with my purchase, but that might not have been the case without the help and sharing of information that goes on here.
Since I got the bike (february 2010), it was bone stock and I was pretty unhappy with the power alright, as I kept reading here. One thing I noticed was it is so lean from the stock setup, I didn't like the fact that between shifts the revs would drop off so quickly, and it felt like it would bog trying to get the power back up into a useable range, now with some mods, she dops off no more than 1000rpm between shifts, during easy shifting, if I get on it, and work it hard, it will drop less than 500rpms, the bike accelerates so much better, I ride mostly on road or gravel/dirt road, have not been on bush trail yet with it, I plan to go this summer, after a few mods and dollars, I couldn't be happier with this KLX, I have had many a bikes in my time, had my license since 16 and I am now 47. Started on dirt, then enduro, then street, everything from 400-750cc, then to a cruiser (yamaha vstar), and now this, and I tell ya, I am having more fun with this than all my previous rides, it brings back the kid in me and puts a smile on my face everytime I grab a handfull of throttle with the sound of my Q4 pipe.
dynojet kit, airbox lid removed, AIS crap removed, and FMF Q4 pipe, shes a blast to ride.
thanks to everyone on this forum for the input, the information shared here is invaluable.
cheers Greg.

Congrats on feeling comfy with your ride and expectations to this point. Cudos to the mole squad in their knowledge and willingness to assist fellow riders.
Glad to have you aboard KF

Love the "it brings back the kid in me and puts a smile on my face everytime I grab a handfull of throttle"
This is the same story written over and over again, when the bike first came out late in 05. I got my motorcycle license when I was 18 and now I will be 46 this July, and the smile on my face after nearly 5 years and 13,000 miles has been priceless. My first bike was a Hodaka, and I had a few road bikes, a three wheeler, and a quad. But nothing compares to riding on some dirt road or trail, only to pop out onto a highway and be legal to see where that takes you. Congratulations man on the best thing to happen to you.....Well wives and kids not withstanding...LOL

I like what I'm reading here and gotta laugh at how little things have changed. K&N Air Filter, Re-Jet, Kerker Exhaust....Or similiar brands. Did it for my 78 CB400F, The KZ650 and a few others...
Been without for a few too many years, parking and storage issues, bad neighborhood. In a new home now with a cluttered 2 car garage, There will be space!! I'm hitting 50 in a few weeks and looking for scoot #8. Turning away from the CRF230L's I've been looking at for a 2009-2010 KLX250S. The KLR650 is tempting but I have a jeep for what that can do. The 250 is probably smarter for the "Re-entry"...
