Why is a stock kx250 so much more powerful than our klx250s or even 350s?

And Im not even talking about the 2 stroke-- Im talking about the KX250F. It puts out as much HP as the 2 stroke you rode, but its a four.

But no where near the snap. Racing organizations only permit(ed) 125cc 2s against 250cc 4s and 250cc 2s against 450cc 4s. You never saw the 250s face off in any racing. The two stroke had a decided performance advantage regardles of the hp or torque figure. Pretty much has always held true.

But good points on the KX250F vs the KLX250/300. You have all the performance tricks in an engine that is expected to be torn down at least every season for refreshing versus an engine built to run not just years, but decades. Plus you don't need to change oil every 10 hours and run high dollar race gas either.

Face it, the KLX250S and CRF205L are essentially a combined effort at a third world efficient motorcycle and a play off roader for the rest of the world.
