What GPS do you use with your KLX?
ORIGINAL: Fishfinder
The GPS mount that is on Thunderchilds bike: Is that the 1" ball clamp that connects to the 7/8" handlebars ? I have theRAM mount and 3" armfor my Garmin GPSMAP 76S but not sure what type of ball mount is best on the bike. Open to suggestions..

I'm using a Garmin GPS60CSx as well with the RAM mount. The unit shared between my atv and my bike.It is extremely durable as it has survived a few multiple barrel rolls on the quad with no damage.I upgraded to this from a garmin ETREX legend last christmas.super easy to navigate and I keep finding more useful stuff every time i use it.I am using the mapsource topo NA software as well as Metroguide v8 in it too.I looked at alot of units before buying and for the off road world and knowing other people that have been using quite a variety of units i went with this garmin unit and i don't think i'll switch to another one.
Here are some old pictures of my initial install. I love my 60CSx and would recomend it to any dual sporter. It has a lot of features and does mapping to keep track of where you have been. You can also hardwire it to your electrical system.

Good thread guys. I'm pondering a GPS as well, it would make exploring trails more fun. Not ...turn left, right, mile marker 6...carry the 2 add a pine tree..
Good food for thought.

I'm using an old Garmin 12 and a iPAQ H3850. I've had the Garmin for a long time and it works just great. The iPAQ came later and then I married them with a cable to provide power from a 12V recepticle. I'm also using the Pocket Navigator software and maps from Maptech. RAM mounts are being used too.
I installed a marine grade 12V recepticle on the handguard. This whole setup works justfine - but the pocket pc isn't waterproof, but its easy to unmount it if it starts raining.
The photos aren't the greatest shots.

Garmin GPSMAP 276c here. Works very well, easy to use, large screen. Works well for the bike or the car. The car adapter has a speaker for voice prompting. I has a very course base map built-in but to be useful you need something like MapSource City Select where you can download street level maps and other databases, i.e., resteraunts, gas stations, etc. For the NE Ride I used the US Topo East which is 1:100000 level topo maps and every road we were on was on the topo, that was very cool. It's billed as a marine GPS and is waterproof so you don't have to worry about rain or mud. Here it is on my bike using the RAM mount. I have it hard-wired into the battery.
