That's probably just the first interval. Thereafter, it should be 15 or 20 hours.

My dealer told me it is very important to do that first one at 3 hours because the factory fills it with a break-in oil and it can be harmful if you don't get it out at the right time. After that, go will the recommended synthetic. At least that was the '07. The '08 is a completely different engine, but I seriously doubt the maintenance intervals have changed that much.

AWSOME!!! Welcome to the ktm/klx club.
I picked up an 05 smr 525 a few months back. I bought some dirt wheels and tires and suspension for it. It's extra super duper fun.
BUt I remind everyone, the KLX is pretty much just as fun. Last ride I took it on, I figured I'd be dissappointed with the power the whole ride, but was suprised at the end of the ride how I didn't pay attention to the power difference, and still had a blast on it. I got more trust in the KLX lasting a ride quite honestly. I'm not at home on the KTM yet, and it's just got an overwhelming amount of power. I get tired so much faster on the KTM, it's a workout. But having the power at the fingertips to throw a 20 foot roost , or pulling the front wheel up in the air, almost whenever.. It's cool.

Cool. I've seen their off-road bikes, but not the SM. I'd never buy one, but it's good to have options. I'd stick w/KTM over that (Or Husky, Husaberg, or Aprilia.) first.

I can barely live w/the Katoom streetbike maintenance. I'm not even going to begin messing w/the 530's schedule. It is a way cool bike, though. A buddy's got one. I'll just ride it once in a while. That's what friends are for...

Beautiful ZX10! I bet that was hard to part with, I know I would have a problem with that separation. The KTM looks very bad-***!
