I just purchased an 09 KTM 530EXC on sunday and its been my dream bike! But I had to let go of my ZX10R to get the KTM! You guys were right about high maintenance on these KTMs. This made me love my KLX even more! The KLX is so much more street friendly, more comfortable and require less maintenance. The KLX did everything I wanted it to offroad without high expectations. The 530 is such a beast though! I spun the wheels all the way through 4th gear! Then I scooted back on the seat and it became a wheelie machine! I've ridden the 530 before and thats what made me want one! Here are some low quality shots! nice ktm too... went on a ride recently and a guy had a new 525 beat the snot out of it.

 

530? Didn't even know they had those! I thought it was just the 450 and 525.

What's the actual displacement of that? I know the 525 is like 510..

Too bad you had to get rid of the green, but hopefully the grins the KTM will give overcome the feeling of loss.

Looks like the bike would handle well- I tried out a KLR but liked how nimble the KLX felt. Not that I wouldn't mind a 300cc kit, you have to be loving 500+!

 

I'm a Katoom fan. Have a 990 Super Duke and had others. They are great enthusiasts' stuff, but they require more of you. I fought off the temptation for the 530, but I'm hot for a 690 SMC. Or could I settle for a KLX250SF or WR250X? Decisions, decisions...

Enjoy. KTM is great stuff. I'm still deciding whether it's worth it for me, or not, anymore.

Sweet 530 dude! If the maintenance is anything like my '07 EXC, it's not that bad. Just keep the oil fresh and the valves in clearance. Do them every 15 or 20 hours of run time. Your motor will last a long long time.

 

Sup guys! I'm not gonna lie, I do miss my zx10 and I still can't believe it's gone! But I got a good deal for my 530! The dealer bought my zx10 for $7k and gave me the 530 for $8500 otd! I got my zx10 for that price last year! I had so much fun on the zx10! I did a 189mph runs a couple of times but I know it wasn't accurate. I couldn't control myself on it! I loved the thrill and speed of it! I'm very fortunate that I never got a speeding ticket, jail time or even worse, died on it! I think I made a great decision on trading the zx10!
The actual displacement of the 530 is 510.4cc and the seat height is a little over 38 inches. I'm only 5'6 and I can't even reach the ground! I have to hang off to the side to reach the ground. I checked the owners manual and it said to change the oil and adjust the valves every 3 hours! I was like are you serious? But its ok though! This thing is a blast!
