Shift Star - Design Change
I installed the Four Stroke Works shift star kit in my '09 last night. Glad to know they are still available. The improved star makes a huge difference in feel. Just walking the bike around the garage and shifting it but can already tell its going to make for a better ride.
The little dowel that comes with the kit was not drilled large enough to fit over the neutral hold spring. I tried to ream it out, but only had wood drill bits so it wasn't working fast enough for me. Instead I left the dowel out and bent the spring arm a little bit to get the same effect. Seems to have worked well. There is a little added pressure to the neutral detent, and a little more resistance in the throw. Just a little tweak went a long way and now I'm thinking the dowel would have been too much.

So after doing some searches, and seeing that this sticky hasn't been updated in quite a while, what is the most current OEM part number for a solid shift star to put in my kit bag?
Also, if there is an equal or better aftermarket part, could someone please post the manufacturer and part number for that?
Most of the info I found was dated by several years, so I thought I would ask for current info as I have an '09 I'd like to get a good shift star for ... just in case.
Thank you

Looks like Four Star Works is still selling parts.

I did receive one that was machined incorrectly, and I was offered no help when contacting FSW, but I redrilled the locating dowel and it worked great. This shift star does feel good and I remember enjoying the result.
