rejetting for altitude
I bought the KLX 250s in Ohio it ran fine but then I moved out to Arizona. The altitude where I live and ride is from 3700-5000 ft above sea level. do I need to rejet the carb?
Also thinking of trading it for a KLR 650 as it does not do well in the desert.

Well, you didn't mention what it's doing. But if you're getting a full throttle bog, you need to go down a size on your main jet. For the pilot circuit, you can try turning the mixture screw in a half turn or so.
The correct way to adjust the mix screw is as follows. Basically, at idle, turn it in until the bike starts to sputter and run rough, then back it out a half turn or so. If you can turn the mix screw in to 1/2 turn or less without the bike sputtering or stalling, you need to go down a pilot jet size.

I'll tell ya, the KLX250 is a whole lot better in sand than the KLR. Not surprising being more than 100 pounds lighter.
