rejetting made easier

rejetting made easier
when you need to rejet for different altitude or for whatever reason, this might help. i put some longer bolts with double nuts in place of the stock screws in the carb bowl. you can loosen the bolt with a wrench and turn it out with your fingers. use an angle screwdriver to get the jet out. no need to move the carb. be carefull not to overtighten bolts with wrench. i think mine took a 7mm wrench. the bolt were about 1 1/4 in. long. dont remember the mm.

RE: rejetting made easier
Is rejetting the "stock" carb something reasonable while it is still mounted? It looks like the carb removal procedure is a couple hours in itself but, you can't drill out that EPA plug which I guess it what controls the "lean" idle mixture.
I remember taking a carb off once long ago so, maybe I'm over estimating the effort required.

thats pretty clever! I'd only be concerned of the bolts backing off. Maybe have extra backup nuts or some loctite?
woops you got backup nuts. sorry i didnt see. Nice job!

Another suggestion is to at least replace the phillips head screws with some allen head screws. After a few times apart the heads on thephillips tend to strip. Also for those that are concerned the after a few times practice timesout the carb can be removed in 10-15 minutes, the whole jetting job can be done in 30-40 minutes
