Rear JT steel sprocket 45T for $7

Some sites say it will, others do not.
Hey all, not sure if this kind of post is permitted but rules here seem to be pretty lax. I needed a rear sprocket for my 2012 KLX and found this one, my understanding is that a 45T rear is about equivalent to upgrading to a 13T front, which will increase the torque on these bikes and potentially increase top speed, as the top gears are tall enough that they run out of torque before they run out of RPMs. It's an add on item on amazon so if you are planning on ordering something soon, might as well add this in for only $7!

Interesting, I had assumed that since +3 on the rear is close to +1 on the front, and +1 on the front requires no new chain, that +3 on rear wouldn't require a new chain. I suppose unless you need a new chain as well, cheaper to just get a new front sprocket.

It may or may not, depends on the chain wear on the used chain. If needed, an additional link and master link can be added. Do the master link correctly and it will stay. My last problem with a master link was in 1972, I believe I put the clip on backward. I was a rookie. Probably a couple hundred thousand miles since with no problem.
If the front sprocket is hooked, I'd do both sprockets and new chain. Why start half way worn out when spending $33? Maybe do a 13 to wear out the stock set up then do the new stuff.
