Question regarding muffler/headpipe/jetting
OK, I need to look into ordering those jets, any advice, or just google? I'm not certain about my spring as I'm working with an unknown commodity. Is the spring visibly different (i.e. worth snapping a picture?)
I was thinking I would re-assemble only the top(diaphragm, spring etc) but not fully reassemble until the jets arrive...
ETA, I found Keihin jets individually at JetsRus, they call the pilot a "slow jet" i gather.
Edit#2 the spring I have measures 86mm

The springs are too close to show up in a pic. You really need to go to Kawasaki and get the stock slide spring. All present and future max performance lidless setups will use the stock spring. You can also find, in here, the correct Kawa part number for the #40 pilot jet, if that is what you are after.
Get a K152 from JetsRus.. I have no idea what a "slow jet" is..

I will get a known correct spring coming. For some reason they call the pilot a slow jet on their site. I already ordered it so hopefully its correct. got a k152 and a slow/pilot 40
Thanks again for all the help!

It's a bit of a pain when you get a bike with an unknown CVK setup in it.. Rest assured, your time and trouble now will be repaid in full with the first ride. DJ140/K152, 1N, stock spring, #40@ 2 out, lidless, with performance slipon and stock Header, near sea level, puts a big stupid smile on your face every time.. Add MCM for even more..
Ha! Having a bike at all has put a big stupid smile on my face already, my cheeks would hurt if I did the MCM!!!!
Thanks again, I will keep this thread updated when my parts and pieces arrive.

My jets, and spring are here on my table. Looking forward to going out and putting things back together. I am including a picture of the new spring that arrived, with measurements, as a future reference. The original spring is unknown to me in terms of brand or origin, but is clearly not stock, so I am glad that I waited for my new one to be delivered to be able to have a known base to work off.
OK.....so, I have installed the two jets(k152, 40 pilot), and put the clip on the highest groove, with two washers glued on top. assembled carefully. the bike will start and idle fine, but when you crack the throttle, it dies. I have taken the top off to see if the slide was stuck, or the diaphragm was out of whack(I don't think it is, but I know many have had problems, so I might not be catching it)... pulled the bowl off and double checked float operation etc. checked fuel, seems fine.
Im sure I have made a classic blunder, and that is why I'm posting up here, hoping someone catches the obvious mistake....
I will include a picture of my needle in case I have misinterpreted "1n"....
Thank you for any suggestions
ETA, I should add that I have it lidless, stock header, and DG slip-on. I de-smogged (but have triple checked the 3 locations with rubber caps and small fuel hose clamps, they are G2G so I don't think that is affecting)
Also, I did gently seat the fuel (fuel/air)screw, and the backed out 2 turns as well

The best way to check the slide is to remove the whole carb and move it manually with your finger. It should be smooth with even pressure and no snags.
Maybe an obvious question but are you letting the bike warm up fully? Does it rev freely with the choke on?

Hi, the bike will start nicely from cold with choke on and warms up fine. with choke on i am able to open the throttle up without it dying, sound stumbly but still runs. choke off, idles nicely, but as soon as i open up, it dies. after it dies it really doesn't want to start again while warm without a lot of coaxing.
Correct me if I'm wrong but from what i understand, this at least means the 40 pilot is good. I am probably able to use that first "1/4" turn before it dies.
during the last assembly, I lifted the slide up and down from above, with the tip of my finger, and it felt smooth. BUT, it was not fully assembled, AND it was still in the bike.
