Big bore or not doesn't make a difference. It's a POS design that fails too frequently. If the auto unit is failing, replace it. Or just replace it for peace of mind.

Thanks IDRIDR, I won't worry about getting the part in time for build up myself, but will order one from Krieger after I hear back from him.
Thanks for the info...and peace of mind.

And I'm pretty sure mine increased the top end of the bike and how fast it gets there. In addition to being 2mm bigger, you look down the totally smoothbore throat of a nice, flat-slide design like this carb, and you can see why it can provide better WOT performance.
I'd have to agree, but they aren't strange to me... a few times I rode a TM400!

It wouldn't surprise me that the speed might be higher and quicker, buut that might have more to do with the slower slide reaction because it has to have vacuum suck it up, unlike the twist of a wrist... takes time. And who knows, does it really open all the way up? No doubt a slide carb is the best performer if one doesn't mind whatever touchiness it may make. That's all "in the wrist", you can adjust for it. I know... remember that TM400? If you didn't adjust wrist action you broke rear fenders real quick, along with what you landed on.

Of course TNC knows all that. It's just a contribution to the conversation on my part.
