Well, this is my first post to this forum (or any forum for that matter!) and I would like to start off
by saying thank you to all of you who have posted helpful tips on upgrades, aftermarket parts,
and general info. I must admit I have been a little selfish in the fact that I have been viewing this
site for over a year and never signed up to share any info. Sorry guys! This site was what prompted
me to dump my 2001 CR250 for the KLX when I wanted to get into dualsport motorcycles. I was
concerned with the power issue (still am a little) but reading about all of your upgrades made me
bite the bullit and go for it. I have had the bike ove a year now and really love it. It is a bit of a turd
in stock form, but I installed a muzzy exhaust, carb kit (klx300 with adjustable needle) 13 tooth
sproket, and kenda track masters. MUCH BETTER! Still no cr250, but its a dual sport, right?
Big bore maybe, but I may be gettinga second bike (another cr) strictly for offroading, so I dont see that
happening just yet! Anyway, just wanted to say Hello, and Thanks to everyone for all your helpful info!

Welcome!

I have to ask, did you Muzzy guysnotice a significant difference in power from your Muzzy? I really like the Muzzy look, but am concerned, especially from the comment from the DirtBike Television episode after the guy rode the bike with the Muzzy, he said something to the effect that it didn't have the power he had hoped. Therefore I was lookng at Big Gun, but am now concerned about some of the issues, including customer support. Decisions, decisions.....

I am going to try and be PC here and be neutral. It is up to you which pipe you buy, but I can guarantee that Muzzy, Big Gun, Or anything else will give you relatively the same power output. And jetting the carb will help too. Doing both of these things for me was like night and day. When I get on the throttle its absolutely rips it up. Considering my size, 6-1 and 240 I am absolutely impressed and totally satisfied with the mods. I am running the 132 and 40 jets with the air box lid off. Oh did I mention that the bike ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!???????

Nice, and oh so green!

On my way right now to the dealer to order some parts. The shop here actually sells new "hopped up" KLX 250S for $5399, I think they do the Big Gun and rejet, maybe use the 13t. I intend to order the Muzzy, but they may talk me into the Big Gun before it's all said and done.

Pooliod, I did indeed notice a dramatic difference with the muzzy exhaust and carb kit,
It compliments the 13 tooth front sproket very well. The bike actually has a useable
powerband on the trails now. But I am sure it is going to be a similar result with any
other full exhaust system, I just went with the Muzzy because I was familiar with the
company and knew they had a very good reputation for quality.
