i think i might just go with the 110 tire
Good call, I got a TM 120 on my klx and I ride in some really soft sugar sand.......I ride with buds that have non-street legal bikes (250s) mostly and they have no problem with 110 tires....... they say the 100s are a little skinny ....... so I would recommend a 110.......and I will switch to one as soon as my 120 wears out.

BTW I'm running a 14/49 combo.

I have the 45 rear. Sometime I wouldn't mind still having the 42 and just using 5th gear when I need it. Even with the 45 in the rear, I needed 5th gear to hold 60mph riding 2-up with a 20mph headwind... it was also a hell of an ab and armworkout. there was easily 50 lbs of force pushing against me. I have a full Muzzy system, jetted, Uni filter, drilled breather, drilled carbvacuum hole thing,KX snorkle.

I tried the 13Tooth front sprocket with the 45. Perfect if I was mostly riding on trails, rather than off road. I used a impact wrench to get it off. piece of cake... every garage should have one. Even a cheapo $40 electric onefrom Wally World works great.

do u think the 120 tire is too wide and the 100 is too skinny? is that why your goin with the 110 or what? by the way, how much of a difference could u tell by goin with the 14/49 setup? how did it feel compared to stock? i ride only in trails pretty much so i was just wanderin how this setup is

I think the 120 is a little heavy for a 25 hp bike (300 jug etc just like you), I think a 110 would be better, the 100 can get a little squirrelly in the soft stuff. IMHO I'm also going off what my riding buds say that are way more serious about biking than I am. They mostly ride 250 two smokes and a couple 450 four strokes...... btw the guys on the 450s prefer the 110 mostly......some the 120.

Asfar as gearing goes the 14/49 lets me hang with my more serious riding buds, I may not win but they don't have to wait on me.............It's marginal on the highway....too much rpms at 60+

Depending on the riding you doing as to the gearing you want. The following is my opinion

1. Road riding and some open trails, forestry tracks etc Stock 14 / 42 6000 rpm @ 60 mph

2.Good hill climbing ability, single track, forestry and open trails and road riding (6th gear well usable). Either 13 / 42 (Cheap option) or 14 / 45 (need new chain) approx 6500 rpm @ 60 mph. This would be my choice except I wanted to go slower on hills.

3. 13 / 45 (what I have) or 14 / 48. More serious hill climbing at low speeds (rocky terrain, ruts, slop etc), open trails, single track and slow work. Limited or slowish road riding because of high revs eg approx 7300 rpm @ 60 mph

hope this helps

Garry
