I'd like to be able to tell you no because that's what I think you want to hear. I can tell you that you'll probably change the AFR of your 351 when you stop making it pump exhaust through that soda straw. You'll need a dyno, AFR meter, or your seat-o-pants to make that decision. Did you buy the bike like it is now?

Maybe you'll get lucky - having to suck through that hole in the airbox lid could potentially create a rich condition that screams for a slip-on as is.

You want and expert on all this? The closest you'll get to a expert is to give Bill Blue a call.

i bought the bike basically new back in 09 with no mods, put on the big bore and jetted myself. i see you have a 132 main jet and don't have it bored? so judging from that i think ill need more fuel haha

FWIW I have a 331 and even with the airbox lid totally removed the 132 was rich. I had to back it down to the 128 which was only just slightly rich with the stock 250 bore.

I'm at 1300 FT above sea level.

Frampton, I'm basically at sea level. My Dyno run with the Dyno's A/F probe printed out an A/F chart that showed 14 to 14.5 with the DJ#128 jet. That is a good compromise between power and mileage. I want power - so in went the DJ#132 - next dyno run showed just under 13:1 and 1 additional HP over the #128 - 12.8 is considered perfect for max power.

I have no idea how to jet for a 351. Bill Blue has posted, in this forum, his formula for re-jetting after installing the 351. Do a search.

What I and many others come to find, is with the stock CV carb you can pretty much keep the same main jet(as a piped and jetting 250) and just tweak the a/f mixture screw. In other words the vaccuum is higher with the 351 so even if you keep a 128 jet it pulls more fuel. I ramped up to a 132 from a 128 per Bill's instructions but I find myself a tad on the rich side, but like you said power vs mileage.
