DJ Needle Clip 4th from Top with 2 Washers on top?
I took the plunge and got the carb out and now I am reading the instructions for the KLX 300 Dynojet Kit and it says put the clip 4th groove from the top and add two washers to the top. I am 650 ft above sea level and I am going with the 128 main jet with a 40 pilot jet. I will be using a stock KLX 300 exhaust with the plug removed. Is this the right clip position for my situation. What effect does the clip position have on the engine? What do the 2 Washers do on top of the needle clip. I just want to make sure I get it right before I put it back together. The instruction on the forum have be a real life saver and money saver.
Thanks,
Rob

On the back of the stage 2 intructions. Read #3. Reference Fig. A picture.
Did your needle have the brass washer? If not use the two washers included in the dynojet kit, they go on top of the clip.
As to your needle clip question reference the troubleshooting guide #5D at the bottom.
Dynojet technical assistance line # is listed on the troubleshooting guide also. You paid for this service when you bought the jet kit.
Good luck as everyone who has bought the kit has gone thru this. Ask any more questions as you need.

While you have the carb apart, make sure that the DJ needle slides all of the way into position. For the last several years, the needle that DJ has been sending out is just a bit too thick to fit all of the way down into the slide, causing fuel mixture problems. If that is the case for you, either drill out the slide hole or sand down the needle where it binds up.
Also, make sure that the other vertical hole in the slide doesn't get blocked by one of the legs of the white plastic cage.

Redixon,
In answer to your question "What do the 2 little washers do on top of the needle clip", I believe that they are there to keep the needle seated into the top of the slide. Otherwise, when the slide is descending, the needle might slide upwards a bit, causing the mixture to be a little rich as the amount of air entering the carb throat is lessening. That's my theory (and I'm stickin' to it) unless someone knows better. . . .

CV carbs suck, spent many a year trying to tune the suckers. Change the oil on an MGB and the new crankcase fumes would throw out the carbs. Tune a Volvo at shop temp 65 test drive at 40 and the thing wouldn't run. Anyway found that following the DJ instructions as far as stock vs non stock ETC you can be pretty close if not rite on. (And Magoo your theory is rite on).

Finished the carb jets and exhaust today
I ended up using the 132 Main jet, 40 pilot jet, Mixture 2.5 out, with a KLX 300 exhaust with the plug removed. It took forever but I took my time and got everything back together. I started right up and sounded good but not to loud. Went around the block and it seem to run great all the way through the rpms. I do not have enough experience to tell if it is running lean or rich but it's running great from what I can tell. Thanks for all the help.
