How long do you heat it?? I gave up and went and got a torch Just dont' want to overheat it or fry the seal or anything. I held it on there for several seconds and gave it another try but still no luck

Heat the nut for 15-20 seconds, try to remove, if not heat it again. Nothing was smoking when i did mine, there is alot of metal there that would Take alot of heat to damage the seal. I use a small propane torch with a low flame and focus the heat on the nut. Keep trying it will work, had to do the same procedeure on my ZRX1200, kawi dont want them coming off by accident.

Just gave it another try... I got the surface temp of the nut to 175 degrees according to my infrared thermometer and still nothing! I've triple checked to make sure the washer is good and flat behind it. Things like this will drive a man insane

Got it! One more light hit of the trusty torch. Then I tried it with the breaker bar again and then the impact gun got it right off. nearly ended up with a nice hexagon shaped burn on the palm of my hand after picking it up Thanks for your help everyone!

I know that the lock washer must be flattened out first so I've done that. I tried a 3 foot breaker bar and that would not get it. Went and bought an electric 1/2" impact gun and it still wont' budge! I've had problems with front sprockets in the past but used to have a pneumatic impact gun and that always did the trick. These electric ones don't seem to have enough "oomph" Don't have it anymore though so I"m out of ideas
That's ****ing hilarious! My son and I were trying to get mine off today too and couldn't. I don't feel so bad now. I had to apologize to my son for yelling at him to hold the God damn break while I was trying to get it free.

My first problem was getting the chain off. I saw a post on here that helped get it on and off. But for the life of me I couldn't break the nut. I just bought a torque wrench and 22mm to do the job too. I read the "unhelpful" service manual which got me nowhere.

I did the same thing and didn't have any problems.
