more tuning woes
I don't know that sharp is the word. It tapers out pretty quick, rather than over a long ways. So I guess you could call that sharp. The stock and 51 needles side by side indicate to me that the 51 has more potential. Good or Bad ? Had to test it. Butt Dyno says this works.

I have to pull the 50 out of there to compare it to the stock again to see what difference there is. I think I should be alright mixture wise if I run the P8 and drop the needle a clip or two. I'll have to futs with the main jet again, but at least it'll get me close.
These carbs are just wonky. Most other carbs they say go for the main first and adjust down the line, doesn't work with these as every change you make will also effect the main.

Back to the drawing board. I have the bike running great with my current setup, but ran out of gas!!!. Walked a mile up hill to get to the gas station, turns out I was only getting 45 miles per gallon. Babies it for half a tank and got the same results. I was getting upwards of 58mpg previously so something needs to be fixed.
Current:
17.5 pilot jet, screw 2 turns out.
P8 needle jet
132.5 main
Stock needle 3rd position
stock pilot air jet.
Runs strong, idle is great, pulls all the way through part throttle, yada yada. Though the mileage sucks. The reason I went back to p8 was to fix the just off idle throttle. Just enough to maintain 10mph say (less than 1/16?)
It was mentioned before that the needle jet may be compensating for the pilot circuit, namely the pilot air jet, being too lean at part opening.
My question being, how do I change all of this? It runs very strong now but 1/4th throttle has to be crazy rich. I'm thinking dropping perhaps even to the p4 needle jet, .9 (perhaps .7) pilot air jet and 15 pilot jet. Should this lean out 1/4th throttle while keeping 1/16th about where it is already? -- I'm not sure I understand the relationship of the air jet with part throttle, not sure what that circuit would effect aside from idle.
