Because of the frivoulous lawsuits that are allowed to go to trial in this country.

I just ordered the Simpson GS3-MX (green graphics) from Simpson's site, they are $69 on clearance.

http://www.simpsonraceproducts.com/p...p;prod_id=4105

I also ordered it fitted with the Iridium face shield ($135), we'll see if they can do it on a clearance item, if so it's the deal of the century.

Thanks to this thread for sparking my interest.

WOW, iftheycanadd the shield to a clearance helmet, that would be anamazingdeal!

I wonder about this though: "GS3-MX Face Shield must be added by the factory at time of purchase." Did you call and ask at all? Definitely keep us posted!

Aha! I just called... you can get the clearance helmet with the shield installed. The only difference is the clearance helmet is Snell 2000,and the regular one is Snell 2005.

I may have to order one, but that would put off buying my bike until it got here. Hmmmm....

I have a Snell 95 head so it should be no problem. [&o]

The difference between a Snell M2000 vs. M2005 standard is almost nill, so long as you are wearing a Snell and DOT approved helmet that's in good shape and proper fit you're going to be afforded some very good protection should you take a hard knock.

If many of you inspect your helmets you may find no Snell certification at all

You can view the spec's for all Snell standards at smf.org and surprisingly they are written in plain English.

Damn... those are all great looking lids.

I finally got my bike on the street rode with a regular street full face helmet (borrowed)then my mx style helmet and there is a huge difference.

Mx feels uncomfortable with googles and doesn't have the great peripheral vision of a visored full face helmet.

One question for anyone who's ordered helmets online:

I've found a huge difference in the way offroad helmets fit, that being said, has anyone got a good fit the first time ordering online?

hey zx1100 i ordered the same hat, just got it. i like the graphics and the looks and fit. its not too light but hey for 69 bucks not bad.the graphics are actually painted on with dupont.....nice no decals to come off. rode today up to 75mph and no adverse effects wind wise from the visor so that was nice. anyway heres a couple pics if anyone else is interested.
