It may depend a lot on the gearing that's on a bike/how it's ridden? A high geared sumo SF might need the AP boost more than a tight geared bike that's used off road most of the time.

I'm thinking I may look around for a longer AP kick in adjust screw. The one that comes with these Mikuni pumper carbs doesn't let you adjust the kick in very far away from idle. Mine's running fine as it is, but I'd like more adjustability.

Unless I can just put something under the end of the original screw to have it start lifting the white actuator above the plunger earlier.

Thank you, I may try this avenue just to see what happens if I can get a carb for really low buck. I will have to check dimensions to see what would be needed to fit it between the air box boot and the intake manifold to see what it takes. I'm sure they're short enough to fit in the space given.

The are often available for around $50 or so. My current and previous SR500s had the round slide since the flat slides weren't predominant yet.

Just curious.
I know what ya are talking about I think I have a older flat slide carb sitting around the shop some where, I'm sure it would be a improvement over the
stock vacuum carb
the deal is make sure it will fit,you may have to make or get adapters
but the big thing is getting it jetted right that takes some special gear and a lot of time but yes it is all doable

An older flat slide without AP should jet the same as the carbs we're using here. If the one you have is a Mikuni it'd go fairly easy I'd think.

The bike runs great 70 mpg and she loves it

This guy has an FCR on his KLX250, but I think it's a 34 or 35mm

https://www.kawasakiforums.com/forum...e-issue-35994/

So all FCR carbs come with no choke??

If somebody decides to try a TMXX, I've done a lot of set up on these carbs, so I may have some useful info. The guys I ride with actually prefer the Kehin PWK over the TMXX for anything other than WOT/MX racing. I have an RB modded TMXX on my Husky that works very well. I also have a spare TMXX, and a 38 Lectron just sitting in a box. Hmm.
