The post with the red bike, it looks like you installed them with the bend up. Most have it down, that may work better, post a report after you crash please (hope it is next year at least).
That sounds like I am kinda mean? sorry.
They are from Highway Dirt Bikes.

Ok, I just bought a 2015 KLX 250s. Got some Barkbuster hand guards, but they don't seem to fit properly. Has anyone successfully fitted Barkbusters and how did you do it please? I removed the rubber end of the hand grip, dremmelled out the plastic washer and got 6mm bolts to replace the 8 ml ones Barkbusters incorrectly supplied. But, the inner metal clamp part of the handguard cant fit in the right place to connect the hand guard shield because the bracing rod on the handle bar prohibits the clamp from fitting in the correct place...grrr!

I have, but not with the stock bar. Are you using stock bars?
My 2¢ is to go buy a nice bar and throw out the stocker. They bend too easy.
With a new bar it was still a tight fit and took some assembly and disassembly to get everything routed correctly.

Wow! That was a quick response, thank you. Which replacement bars did you use, because most seem to have the brace bar on, which is the bit that gets in the way of the Barkbuster clamp. Would be keen to see how you got round the problem...is it too cheeky to ask for a photo, pretty please?

I used a 7/8" ProTaper bar which has a removable brace bar.
If I can get my internet connection working properly, I'll upload a pic. If not I'll post it tomorrow.
Too cheeky? No such thing...

I've got Renthals with busters, Acerbis type (aka Chinese ebay specials that are a dead ringer for the actual Acerbis on the 650). Usually the clamps have a bit of an angle on them and can be switched side to side enabling them to clear the crossbar.

I will mention one of the issues the media had with the KLX was the terrible bar bend, apparently the pull back angle isn't the most comfortable. Most aftermarkets are MX style bends - CRF, KXF, YZF - keeping the wrists more in line with the fore arms, a good thing. Try some out at a shop. Pick them up and feel how they are. I cut about 3/4" off each end, which is what usually happens with bars for me. Buster end expanders fit fine.

That and from what I read and understand, the stock steel bars are rather soft, bending easily. So it is worth replacing - plus the aftermarket bars look cool and usually have a cross bar pad. I put my registration and insurance card in a baggie and rolled it in the pad cover. Waterproof and convenient if needed.

When putting on the bark busters, install everything a bit loose, ends first, then fit them up, then tighten when right.

You probably will need to cut off about an inch or two off the ends of the levers to fit up in the guards. I cut off enough to use my clutch 3 fingers without pinching my little finger on both sides - small hands, I can't actually use my little finger to grip the levers so no big deal cutting them. Some lower the levers to clear, but that didn't suit the way I have positioned my levers for the past 45 years so I do what I do to work for me.

Hope the picture helps a little.
This is how I've had it set up for years, even before the bar risers.
Mount them tight but not so tight that they can't move from a serious hit.
I've crashed so many times and have only needed to loosen and realign them.
Worth there weight in gold.

just a note, while that bar is removable I believe you should never ride the bike without it. I know the instructions on my Renthal said not to.......

Yeah, good point. I only remove it for access to nuts and bolts underneath the cross bar, then replace it.

Anyone have luck fitting the Acerbis rally pro handguards on Protaper SE HI bars?
