Wow, that's a big difference! What bulb did you use? I'll order one tomorrow.

if its reference to me
I got mine from DDM Tuning: HID and LED Lighting

I used the H4 high/low 5000K motorcycle kit

not sure what they call it exactly online
and like I said full lifetime warranty

one thing I did not like, because ive bought so many of these kits is they gave me the typical dual light wiring harness
so you have a socket that wont be used, and I just tucked it away
and the power wire barely reaches the battery but you can make it work. And they forgot to include the fuse but thats a freak thing.

Other then that its plug and play you just need to run the wire to the battery but its all included in the harness for the high/low

Low beam only does not come with a harness so you either make one or buy one
its cheaper to get the high/low it comes with the free harness

I just figured the motorcycle package would only have one socket on the harness not 2

but its not a big deal
and the ballast will fit behind the headlight area its super thin

the bulb also has I guess its called a casper shield
its supposed to be better then the previous hid's that came out years ago
I think cuts down on the splatter they give off not being in a projector lens

so far only my high low have these, the low beam only I have dont

Thanks for the info MikeW this is really helpful.

I got some money to blow all over the sf (as I do every spring) usually about 200 bucks it seems.

I think I am going to scrap plans for the edge tail light kit and deal with the stock tail light set up and the FMF Q4 for another year, and instead get HID and and new front brake line this year instead.

:-D

I think all under $40

I did, and I think it was fantastic. you basically did what the 12 o clock labs board does (that I want anyway) for a fraction of the price.

I think the stock tail light looks pretty good compared to a lot of other bikes out there IMO.

The problem is I think I need the edge light kit to get my flashers out of the way from the FMF Q4 pipe... which is the only real reason I'm considering the edge kit.

Thanks dan888! I was looking for that thread and that photo. Wish there were more close-ups of that navigation set-up.
Once I can take the bike off the road for some much needed down time, I'll rip off the headlight and instrument cluster and see what there is to work with. Then make some decisions.
Computer placement seems to be the problem. We'll see what happens.
A stator rewind, a Baja light, and some ADVMonster lights and I should be good. Might not even need the rewind, but am going to do it anyway.

Yeah that is a cool looking set up. Like I said , I think it was Redpillar that did a similar light and posted pics here on KF somewhere.
