about to change brake lines for first time

Default about to change brake lines for first time

going to install steel lines - never bled brakes before..


...any tips, gotchas, or experiences to share? must have tools/accessories?

open the bleeders and drain the fluid first, i watched a couple you tube videos for reference. Its simple and about 1 hour to do both and rebleed the brakes

The front brake can be a problem. It's hard to get the air out of the line and brake cylinder. Good luck.

took my 15 mins just to get the fluid going

This could have just been my bike, but when I did my front brake I kept adding more and more fluid and the air bubbles just kept coming out. Eventually realized air was slipping in past nut on the bleeder valve. I tightened it back and just BARELY opened it. After that the bubbles stopped.

It was the rear that gave me issues, front was easy.
