06 KLX250S Oil
I just use Valvoline 10w-40. From my experiences, it doesn't really matter what brand or whether it's organic or synthetic, as long as you change it frequently (especially on dirtbikes). Look how many old 70's and 80's motorcycles are still on the streets and running today that have been running standard oil, before the whole synthetic oil craze took off.
I use Shell SX4.
No problems to date.
Bearing in mind that the engine in KLX is, by modern standards, is not particularly high tech.
Changed regularly, I doubt it matters much one way or the other.

Weerrrd
I use the valvoline too. Mainly because it's $3.50 a qt
I tried using the $9.99/qt Mobil1 4T, and I've used other synths - I just don't see a difference that justifies the extra $$ each time. Even when I pulled my head/cylinder out of the 250 - I used the valvoline for it's whole life and the cylinder/walls/everything looked like it just rolled out of the factory floor.
I dunno.
1.5L = 1.58503qt (so I put in just a little over 1.5 quarts)
I use Mobil 1 (4T Racing) in 10-40 because it's available close by. Supposedly, there's a small Amzoil shop on Lomas near UNM. Maybe today would be a good time for me to go find it. Changing to synthetic was one of the best "mods" I did to my bike. The wet clutch absolutely loves the stuff. No more "missed" shifts, no more "hard" shifts.

Wow....thanks for the info neighbor, definitely let me know if you do!
What part of Burque do you live in? I live in RR
I live close to you. I'm just over the county line at Golf Course and Ellison.
I've standardized on Rotella 15-40 for all of my bikes. I keep an eye out for sales and keep a stock in the garage.
The big thing is to avoid any oils that have friction modifiers, they don't work so well for motorcycles.

Funny I use to live in Paradise Hills not too far from there. Its amazing back in the 90's u could just turn off most roads and start riding in the dirt, now they have most areas fenced off for development
