oil filter gasket sudden major leak

Yep...
I used some of the new oil to lube the gasket and hand tightened the filter. I could get a pretty good grip.
Done many oil changes before this one but first time I've had anything like this happen.
Hopefully all is okay now, if not I'll post again.
