Default Why are sports bikes seat so high?

I have a Vulcan EN500 for 2 years and looking to get a faster bike. I read that the new 2006 Ninja 650r has a seat height close to 30". I think its more like 32" because I can even touch the ground with both feet. Which company makes a sport touring bike that is 650cc or larger that has a seat height of 29" to 30"?

Welcome to the forums!!!

The bike is high enough so when you go threw turns etc, you are able to lean down...Take a Harley for example, lean it half the distance of a sport bike and you're draggin frame. I'm not sure of a manufacturer that makes a sport bike with a short ride height that low.

What I would consider, is buy the new bike, and make the service department lower it for ya. Make the bike match your ride height. Viola, best of both worlds right??

Anyway, if you buy the new bike, tell them you'll take it, only if they lower it for ya. I bet they will do it free of charge..

If that's not an option for ya, you might have to stay with a touring bike....JMO' tho...Enjoy your stay!!

Once the sag is set, it is usually lower and more comfy. That of course is not getting into if the springs are matched to your weight, etc.
