Gear
If you want ,get a digital gear indicator. I installed one on my bike .Make sure you get the plug n play ,this way there is no cutting or splicing of the factory harness. It took me about 15 minutes to install and program. It's pretty much a sure thing . It tells you exactly what gear you are in. I picked it up for about $150. good luck if you have any questions PM me. Acumen makes it . www. riderstation.com
Looking down at gear indicators... necessary? New riders might thing so for sure, but I think anyone with a fair amount of riding experience will tell you - it really doesn't matter what gear you are in or if you know what gear you are in. Listen to your engine... you will know what gear it is in, and if it is in the right gear or not just by the sound and the response it gives you in any certain riding condition. Take the time to learn your bike... before long you won't have to look at the speedo or the gear indicator. $.02.
Ditto srobak.
I rarely (if ever) pay any attention to the gear I'm in. It really doesn't matter since a motorcycle uses a sequential gear box. (meaning you can only go to the next highest or lowest gear per shift.)
