Default gutting the stock can?

i was doing searches for some interesting/unusual sounds for the zzr6 and the fact that people are saying the factory headers with the gutted can sounds, quite simply, amazing makes me wonder if anyone has any idea of how/what to take out of there? or a HOW TO?

There was a guy down the street with a '98 gsxr600 with a gutted can on it. It sounded hellacious! I'm guessing you just drill the rivets off the end of the muffler and just knock out all the guts out of it. So it will be just a big hollow shell, then bolt it back on. But I would make sure to have an extra slip-on around just incase it is too loud at times.

BTW, we never got to line our bikes up and have it out, he traded it for an '02 gsxr 1000! I wouldnt even think about it now! He's a real cool person though, every time he had his bike out, mine would be at my place. When ever I had my bike out, his would be at his place.

I work in a welding shop and i did things a little different. First i ground the rivets off and removed the end cap pulled all the packing and baffels out. But, then i cut the can in half a couple of inches before the mount and re-drilled holes to put the end cap back in. So it looked like a shorty can. It was so loud and sounded like a race bike i really liked the sound ... but then i got the micron full system and took it off. I'm working on being able to mount the stock gutted muffler to the full system micron head pipes.
