gutting stock pipe
I did a quick search and turned up some info on this. What i was wondering is, how loud will the pipe be if I remove the core from a stock 04 ZX-6r pipe? I got a rivet gun from a friend so i was going to drill out the rivets remove the core and re revit the pipe back together.
I have never gutted a pipe before. If i were to gut it out. I thought that you can't put the stuff back in. So if i didn't like it i would need to get a new muffler right?
If you can install a perforated tube in it with some fiberglass insulation, you will have a good flowing pipe and decent sound also. If you remove everything the flow/ backpressure will be affected and you might lose power. Plus as said, it will be loud!
Im not worried about lossing power the bike has more power then i need. At least for me any way. If its going to be too loud and sound like crap then I'll pass on it. I just wanted the bike to be louder so when im in traffic im less likely to get hit or merged into.
plus, youll need to re jet the carbs. its not worth the work in doing it. im not sure how the guts are on your pipe, but i remember needing a torch a grinder and some other stuff to get the junk out. all that and it sounded like a car muffler with holes in it. waste of time but fun chopping up someone elses crap.
My bike doesn't have carbs
. If i were to get a slip on would i need a pc to retune the fuel injection or would the bike be ok with just a slip on and the stock air filter.
