Default Bent cams? Timing chain slack..

Hi guys, new member here. My buddy has a 95' zx7r that he put a 96' or 97' 7r motor into. His bike started making a chattering noise so he shut it down. Let me start by saying he revs it out every single time he drives it. So we took off the timing cover along with the valve cover and took a look. At TDC compression stroke of #2 piston the timing chain has alot of slack, almost enough to skip a tooth.I'm guessing itto be bent cams? We do not have a set of v-blocks handy, we figure to get some insight from some real Kawi Gurus. He is running his old ecu with the different motor, is the redline lower for the different motor? Appreciate any info I could possibly get.

Bad chain and tensioner? Of course with V blocks, you could check the concentrics of the cam. Something is amiss maybe a V block set is in order? Let us know

We are looking for a new (used) motor for the bike to have extra parts with the old engine. Anyone know where to find a zx7 engine or the right zx9 for that matter.
