For future info, there's ENGINE ICE also and the thermostat should not open at 150 degrees. It should open closer to 175. You may have had a thermostat thet was stuck open which will cause overheating due to the water circulating through too fast to cool. Had that happen with my car. Also, Synthetic Oil lowered my temps a little.
