RE: Raced a older R1 last night
the reason i say that is BECAUSE a 05 636 will outrun a 04 ANYDAY, and a 05 636 will hurt a 03 636 feilings, THATS why i say the year model matters. Thats how the time slips go here at the racetrack, bc the guys here let other people ride em, so i know its not just the rider here.

There are many factors into different bikes... the bigger bikes may have more power, but they also have more weight. I can feel the difference. I tried the same bike a played with. On the straight aways, it was great, very touchy throttle, when the turns came about... the first one scarred me, I could feel the wieght when I pressed down. (compared to my bike, I can just whip em), but my only point was "It felt awesome to beat my buddy, for fun and he was more expreinced and had more cc on the straight away." And also, if you must known, last night I played with my other friend who has the same exact bike ( I mean from color to accessories). Two 03 636 head on, oh yeah and I pulled him. ... I'm quick with the left hand.

Don't do the clutchless down shift.... It serves no advantage and is hard on it. Upshift quicker shifts and can be done harmlessly. Similar concept to driving an automatic car, you can manually upshift through the gears, but the opposite will wear out your transmission.... Also it isn't the same concpet of drving a manual transaxle clustchlessly. In a manual you slip the gear box into neutral then hit the gas to match the tranny and engine speeds and let the gear slip into place w/o grinding. Obviously this won't work on bikes since we don't pass neutral to go to the next gear, with 1-2 2-1 being the exception there...

downshifting coming to a stop light is the same weather you use the clutch or not, we (05) have the slipper clutch so it harms nothing. Neutral has nothing to do with clutchless shifting, the syncros for your tranny gears allow this to happen, it should be one continuous motion. When done right....you harm nothing.
