Default just brought it home last night

went 50 miles today. havent been on a bike in 15 years, i got it up 60mph and that wind will start to affect you wont it. lost track of what gear i was in but i do see the need for a bigger rear sprocket asap. im such an idiot, ive never ridden a bike with turn signals on it, just dirt bikes aahhhh .....my old 84 kx 80. so i kept forgetting to shut the damn thing off after i turned. embarrassment leads to learning quicker than normal. well it has 51 miles on it, well see how long that lasts.

Congrats on the new bike. I too bought this my first dirt/street bike in almost 25 years. I have had a couple of road bikes in the last 10-12 years, but this thing is in a league of it's own. I can't wait until the other tail light and the hand guards with the turn signals get here, then I can get rid of the ugly stock blinkers that came on the bike. I'm sure I will eventually get a better exhaust and the jetting mod, but for now I'll just enjoy, I think I was the first one here to get the bike back a day before thanksgiving, and I only have 850 miles on it, 95% road, still waiting to head off road more.

I think we've talked about this before and please don't take offense as none is intended to anyone. Those of you returning to the sport should give serious consideration to taking a refresher training course if you have not already. So many riders returning after 10-20 years go down in the first 6 months it's scary. Ok, lecture mode off.

Thanks for the reminder Todd, that's one I will definitely be taking advantage of. Because after all........I choose life. On the Thumpertalk site there is a post about injuries, and I can't imaging anyone looking at the pictures in there and not calling to schedule the safety class just to lessen the chances of ending up like these guys. Sure, taking the class is not a guarantee that you'll never get hurt, in fact if you ride the reality is that you will end up on the ground at some point, whether it's on the dirt or the pavement, but I have heard good things about the safety course, even from riders that have been on two wheels for 30+ years. Here is a link to the post, "WARNING GRAPHIC" But a good wake up call. http://www.thumpertalk.com/forum/sho...d.php?t=357351

I could only look at a few pictures at a time, then I had to take a break, I have no stomach for injuries.

Link to the Safety course. Then just click on you're state. http://www.msf-usa.org/

Yeah me too, not a big fan of gore. My wife makes fun of me - she's a Med Tech and works in the blood bank. Nothing bothers her.

Oh ya, why not ask some of the other people around the world how long their valves last, obviously every other country has had this bike forever, I'm sure they would be able to answer how long these valves last for.
