The reason why it's such a pain in the ***, from what I recall, is because they gas itself acts as a lube element in the fuel system. When you dry it up it needs cycle back into the system and then the engine.

hey evil, your exhaust bearing looks pretty clean for being that old

 

i change out the muffler bearing every 600 miles.
