Cam Chain Noise - No more

RE: Cam Chain Noise - No more
had me a little worried. I thought rebuilding the top end and adjusting days were over! Although, checking ambient temps and jetting is still an issue on one of the rides, but still, the less is better!

Speed... how hard was this to do? I've always thought of getting one because the noise kinda bugs me. I've already quieted the noise with syn oil... did you just use the manual to swap out the part?

Not too hard. Remove the RH timing cover (may leak some oil and you may need a new gasket). I loosened the bolts just a turnand tapped the cover with a mallet from the front to break the seal and preserve the gasket.Put the cams/ crank at #1 & 4 Cyl TDC, remove the stock unit and replace with the Kit or APE tensioner. Adjust the plunger in until you feel resistance and lock it. Rotate the crank to TDC and check again. Rotate the crank back & forth to check for freeplay andadjust if necessary. You're Done! Fire it up and VOILA! No Noise!
